Chuck Norris says, "God Bless Atheists"

Just found this post tonight:

Thanks, but no thanks Chuck. You might be able to bench-press the world, but I'll have to (fearfully) disagree with you on this one.

If we're going to allow prayer to your particular god at the beginning of these meetings in Colorado, which I assume are located in buildings funded by tax payers, then we need to allow for prayer to all gods worshiped by people these days, including Allah, Buddah, Satan, SantaGod and The Flying Spaghetti monster. I'm sure you'll agree excluding these other gods would be discriminatory.

"I pray that God would give them a constitutional courage to stand up for their rights and not be bullied to pacify anyone who would usurp them."

I pray that the people in public office in Colorado leave their personal beliefs at home and go to work for the good of all people whom they represent, including those with differing beliefs or no beliefs whatsoever. Starting work with a public prayer in a public place to particular religion's god is discrimantory and offensive to everyone who shares a differing worldview.

Chuck, more katas, less jesus juice!

Welcome to the postmodern world.

Again look at the definition of atheist in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines an atheist as: one who believes that there is no deity. Hence, a belief system. Now you may be an agnostic, I dont know. But the very disbelief in God that atheists have, is a belief system in itself.

"Saying atheism is a worldview is like saying bald is a hair color." Not a very good analogy, and again, welcome to the postmodern world. Saying atheism is not a worldview is like saying one cant be bald to sport their fashion statement.

The analogy of worldviews doesnt fit with hair colors itself. Its a "world"view which means it encompasses everything. So I would say being bald (atheist) is also another way to sport a fashion statement(worldview).

Is secualr humnism a worldview? sure it is! but you are presupposing an atheist worldview of course. In the same way I presuppose a theist worldview, and on that adopt a Christian worldview.

"Anything beyond that is based on personal experience, no?" I can easily say atheism can be based on personal experiences as well. Read up Friedrich Nietzsche for that.

""The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction." - Proverbs 1:7

Einstein had a great response to this: If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed."

Sigh. It would be a lot easier if people read before they responded.
The word "fear" as used in the verse is derived from its original language (Hebrew if I'm not mistaken) is also a synonym for respect. That is why we usually describe a godly person as "God-fearing". It doesnt mean we live in a state of panic all our lives, but it means we love God and therefore we fear/respect Him. Think of it with an analogy of a child and his/her parents.

Let me again repeat something I wrote you may have not read.

You can have your belief system, and I shall have mine. This post was an in-house post for fellow Christians to offer insight on. Just as this whole blog is. It's not aimed towards you. But if ever we at Passion 614 decide to become an apologetic outpost, we'll let you know. :)
